Look for announcements of abstract submission and registration through our email list.
The APA 2026 Convention in Washington, DC takes place on Thursday August 6th through Saturday August 8th. We are excited to report that Division 34 will have 85 individuals included in presenting over three days, including symposia and critical conversations, on site poster sessions, virtual poster sessions, and of course meetings related to division business. We hope you can attend either in person or virtually; it promises to be a very nice event.
Additionally, our program includes 3 one-hour CE presentations this year, helping our clinician members. These slots were competitive, so this was great news! Another wonderful announcement is that one of these CE presentations will be on the APA Feature Stage, selected by APA to highlight the work. This will be done by Dr. Thomas Doherty and is titled Climate Change Coping: An Integrative Framework for High-Risk Settings.
We also arranged with the APA Board of Scientific Affairs for a special critical conversation session entitled “Population Science at the Intersection of Population Health and Population Size.” Our convention chair will help guide the conversation featuring Karen A. Hardee, Ph.D. and David Hindin, J.D. And through the Divisions for Social Responsibility, our APA Council Representative John Fraser has arranged for several additional sessions focusing on contemporary social justice issues.
On Thursday night, APA is sponsoring an evening block party from 6:15 – 8:15 p.m. that will feature local music, food trucks, and vendors. Our division will be there to celebrate with some small give away items. You will find us in the space marked Division 34 with a division banner.
On Friday night, we will have a Division Social from 6-8 p.m. in a private room at Busboys and Poets, 450 K Street NW. This will be an opportunity to meet presenters, division leadership, and other attendees for networking, some snacks and beverages.
We also will have some meeting room space on Thursday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. for informal meetings. If you have a need to use the space for a meeting while at the convention, please contact the chair.
The registration site is open and can be found here:
